The building houses the School of Art and Design and contains various art studios, galleries, and an auditorium. Savarino Co served as the general contractor for the second and third phases of the Mackenzie Complex renovations, including Harder Hall.

The renovation included various upgrades to the building, such as energy-efficient systems (LEED-Silver standards), new mechanical and plumbing systems, fire protection, and interior and exterior improvements.
