Allendale Theatre | Buffalo
Architect: Trautman Associates
Owner: Theatre of Youth
Project Start: 2010
Project Completion: 2011
Budget: $1.5M
Savarino partnered with the City of Buffalo on the restoration of the historic Allendale Theatre, a Neo-Classical Revival structure built in 1913 by Levin Michaels. Once home to vaudeville acts and early silent films, the building had fallen into severe disrepair by the 1980s.
Restoration efforts, led by Theatre of Youth and supported by public and private partners, transformed the long-vacant space into a vibrant venue for youth and family programming. Original architectural features were preserved and updated to meet contemporary performance and accessibility standards.
