Lafayette High School is the oldest secondary school building in Buffalo to remain in continuous use as an educational institution. Savarino served as the general contractor for the restoration and renovation of the historic school.

Initially completed in 1903, it was designed in the French Renaissance Revival style by architects Esenwein & Johnson, following a competitive design process that drew 32 submissions. Its central ornamental tower, rising 120 feet with a mansard roof, remains a defining neighborhood landmark on the city’s West Side.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, it now houses Lafayette International High School and Newcomers Academy, continuing its legacy as a center of public education in Buffalo.
